Is Facebook Marketing Still Worth It?
Facebook, now META, may not be the “top dog” it once was. The platform has seen a steep drop in popularity in recent years, falling by 11% in popularity rankings based on new downloads as of the year 2021. In 2018, 74% of Facebook users said they visit the platform multiple times per day according to a PEW research poll. Just a few short years later, this number fell to 49%; a 25% change. While Facebook was once the chosen place on the internet to spend time for young people, the new top age demographic for the platform is 35-44.
What do these statistics mean in terms of marketing for your community? It certainly doesn’t mean that Facebook is on its way out, just that it should be used differently than it was a handful of years ago. If you’re looking to target the elder Millennial to Gen X demographic, Facebook may just be your best bet.

Creating a Facebook group for your community, and inviting your community residents, gives you an easy space to engage, interact, provide updates, and even run contests or promote community activities. A Facebook community and social presence also makes easy work of networking with other local businesses within your area who also use the platform to market and engage.
